The Tewit Silver Band cornet section has welcomed an exciting new addition this week, taking delivery of a full set of Besson Prestige BE2029 cornets.
Tonight the band was delighted to become the first brass band in the world to take delivery and perform on a full set of the brand new Besson BE2029 Prestige cornets, designed by Dr Roger Webster following many months of design development.
Last week members of the band had the opportunity to visit the Besson factory in Germany, gaining a fascinating insight into the craftsmanship behind the instruments. To now have these wonderful cornets in our hands is truly amazing.
The new instruments were unveiled during a recent cornet sectional rehearsal, where players were able to put them through their paces for the first time.Â
Early impressions from the section were extremely positive, with players immediately noticing the instruments’ responsiveness and the depth of sound they produce. As expected when a room full of cornet players get their hands on brand new instruments, the evening also featured the traditional flurry of enthusiastic high note testing!
The arrival of the new cornets comes at an exciting time for the band as preparations continue for the North of England Regional Championships in March.
Tewit Silver Band would like to extend its sincere thanks to our partners Besson and Band Supplies Leeds for their continued support.
