Tewit Community Band will be attending their very first competition on Saturday 22nd March 2025. The band are very excited and as a run up to the competition they will be performing alongside Tewit Silver and Harrogate Band on Tuesdau 12th Mach at St. John Fisher School Harrogate. This will be a run through of the Championship, First and Fourth Section test pieces.
We want to wish all members and bands the best for their performances not only on Tuesday but for the contest weekend 22nd/23rd March 2025
Since the inaugural rehearsal back in September the band has steadily retained and nurtured the players and we now not only have a community band but also a family band! Below are pictures of members and their siblings/ partners / brothers / sisters which makes the band quite unique. We would like to see more families joining our group so, if you can play an instrument please come along to join in with the band.

Tewit Silver band was formed with the aim of extending the playing career of its members and to allow young players to learn alongside experienced musicians. Since its inception, Tewit Silver band has made exceptional progress, moving from being a 4th section band to now being about to enter the Championship section. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the members and committee in ensuring the band’s continued growth and development.
The band’s success has, in itself, created a problem. The jump from youth band is now too great for most of our young, developing players. In an effort to ensure that this is addressed, Tewit Silver band will be forming a new band in September 2024 – Tewit Community Brass. This new band will be run by the same committee and will have the same ethos ensuring that young musicians have the opportunity experience adult banding.
Want to be part of this amazing, exciting project? If you are a retuning player, someone that is looking for a new experience or if would like to sponsor this wonderful cause then please get in touch!
If not, then please follow our Facebook page and enjoy our journey!

What a success on our first meeting. Lots of new faces around the stands and great encouragement from members of Tewit Silver. For a new band the sounds were good. Hope to see you at the next rehearsal on Tuesday 10th September at the same time. NOTE it will be a shorter rehearsal as Tewit Silver will be in final rehearsals themselves for the Chelltenham finals and the MD’s need to practice with the band.
